The processing report tracks dumping, mingling, bottling, and the resulting finished goods, reconciling proof gallons in and out. Together with the production and storage reports it forms the monthly picture the TTB expects to foot to inventory. Linking dumps and bottling runs to barrels keeps this report defensible.
What happens in the processing account?
Dumped spirit is batched, proofed with water, filtered, and bottled here; flavored and blended products take their additions in processing too. The monthly processing report (5110.28) reconciles bulk spirits received against cases bottled and removed.
Where do processing losses come from?
Filtration, bottling-line spillage, and rounding between bulk and cased goods. Small per-run losses are normal; the report makes them visible, and a drifting loss rate is a line worth investigating.
