Small Batch

Small batch whiskey is blended from a relatively limited number of selected barrels to achieve a consistent flavor profile. The term is not legally defined, so batch size varies by producer.

Marrying several barrels lets the distiller smooth out single-barrel variation and target a house style. Doing it precisely means knowing the volume, proof, and character of each contributing barrel so the blend hits its target proof and profile, which is exactly what a blending calculation provides.
