Mash Bill Scaler
Scale a mash bill from percentages to pounds for any batch. Enter your grain percentages and the total grain weight to get the pounds of each grain. Percentages should add up to 100. This mash bill calculator flags recipes that do not.
The formula
grain lbs = total batch lbs x (grain percent / 100)
A worked example
Scaling a 75/13/12 bourbon mashbill to a 2,000 pound cook: 1,500 pounds of corn, 260 pounds of rye, and 240 pounds of malted barley. The ratios hold at any batch size, which is what keeps the recipe the same recipe.
Doing this math barrel by barrel? The platform runs the same calculation on every record automatically, reconciled against the books. See it live.
Bourbon must be at least 51% corn by mashbill (27 CFR 5.143). This tool uses the same calculation as the Spirit Sight platform. It is general information, not tax or legal advice.
